Porcelain Veneers in Three Steps

1. Planning porcelain veneer treatment : The most important part of this procedure is for patients to take an active role in what his/her expected outcomes are in order to achieve a realistic result.

2. Dental preparation for porcelain veneers : In this stage a very thin layer from the front side of the incisors will be corroded and for the laminate veneer to be applied smoothly and correctly the surface should be prepared. From half to one millimeter corroding should be made to apply laminate veneer which is not thicker than a contact lens.

Porcelain veneer treatment is generally painless and does not require anesthesia. To avoid a non-cosmetic or fake appearance of the tooth as well as any possible discomfort from a sensitive tooth a temporary layer is applied and the permanent one is applied when it is sure that there is no discomfort.

3. Bonding stage of porcelain veneer treatment :  This stage is to ensure that the veneer is in the proper color. A test paste is matched with the bonding color. When the patient gives the final approval in front of the mirror the bonding that will be used for the incisor and the porcelain will be prepared. The bonding cement will be applied between the tooth and the laminate veneer and this stage is then completed.

Maintenance of Porcelain Veneers

After the bonding procedure and for 2 whole weeks colored food and drinks must be avoided; this includes tea, coffee, Coke, and cigarettes. Dental care should be followed very carefully. Teeth should be brushed twice a day and flossed on a daily basis.
